Vicki – Early Years Assistant
Vicki has worked for the Playgroup since 2007. Vicki is an Early Years Assistant and has completed a Council for Awards in Children's Care and Education (CACHE) level 2.
This is Vicki’s story – from child to member of staff:
I am an assistant practitioner at Barbados Playgroup Ltd. I have lived in Bordon for about 17 years, and I attended this playgroup as a child when it was situated at Barbados House (now known as the Phoenix centre). I really enjoyed going and I had so much fun there. I carried out my work experience here for two weeks, I enjoyed being here, having fun with the children, that’s when I decided I wanted to work with children.
I went to Farnborough College and I did my level 2 Child Care and Education for a year. I started working at Barbados Playgroup in September 2007. My main job within the playgroup is running the breakfast and snack bar, but I also get involved in the children’s play and activities. I have been involved in the major developments that the playgroup has been carrying out in line with the new Early Years Foundation Stage requirements; I have had a lot of fun creating a new environment for the children to play in.
