OFSTED
As part of the government’s nursery education grant funding system the playgroup is OFSTED inspected. This involves an OFSTED Inspector visiting the group, observing the children, the records and talking to staff, children and sometimes parents. The main objective of for an Ofsted inspector is to find out “what it is like for a child attending our playgroup”. The purpose of the inspection is to identify strengths and weaknesses so that we can improve the quality of educational provision and help children to achieve the goals set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage for children's learning on entering compulsory education, (i.e. by the age of five). It is also to ensure parents and the public that nursery education funded by the state is of an acceptable quality. The inspection report must be made available to all parents. At our last inspection we achieved a grading of Good and a 3 to 4 year re-inspection time.
If the setting has been inspected previously, an action plan will have been drawn up to tackle issues identified. This inspection, therefore, must also assess what progress has been made in the implementation of this plan.
