Investors In People
In February 2003, again in November 2004 and November 2007 Barbados Playgroup met the standards for, and are recognized as an Investor in People.
What is Investors in People?
Investors in People is a national standard available to all organisations, it contains 12 indicators that encourages organisations to develop all of their people. It is based on the practical experience of organisations that have improved their performance by investing in their people’s development assessed against.
The 4 areas the 12 indicators are broken down into:
- An Investor in People is fully committed to developing its people in order to achieve its aims and objectives.
- An Investor in People is clear about its aims and its objectives and what its people need to do to achieve them.
- An Investor in People develops its people effectively in order to improve its performance.
- An Investor in People understands the impact of its investment in people on its performance.
Barbados Playgroup Investors in People Assessment Overview
Barbados playgroup have worked hard to establish clear, visible results for the staff, children and parents. Recognition as Investors in People provides the real acknowledgement of the activity undertaken to produce the outcomes over the past two years. The assessment is a clear opportunity for the playgroup to demonstrate to everyone how this direction of excellence can be recognized internally and externally. In working with the principles of Investors in People, Barbados Playgroup have been able to clearly demonstrate how effective their working practices are. In meeting the challenge of developing the children for school, the commitment and enthusiasm of the team creates a refreshing, dynamic environment.
The key strengths of the playgroup can be summarized as:
- Highly motivated team, putting learning into practice for the benefit of the children.
- Excellent HE processes supported by formal and informal reviews.
- Highly focused NVQ support delivering excellent results for the staff and children.
- Strong communication processes including meetings, newsletter and open sessions.
- The sharing of knowledge and practical application of learning experiences.
- Motivational lead and support from the playgroup supervisor and Chair.
- Confidence and enthusiasm of staff to improve curriculum and procedures following development.
